Volunteers
LEAP is run by a volunteer Board who are Trustees of the registered charity
[no. 1118612].
The Enterprise Company Programme within the schools is delivered by teachers
who volunteer their time outside of school hours, and help is supplied by
volunteer Business Mentors, some of whom work for local businesses and some
are sixth form volunteers who have been through either the Young Enterprise
or LEAP programme in previous years.
All volunteers are checked through the CRB system which is either done by
the school or by LEAP as necessary.
Volunteers gain a lot from guiding the students
and advising them through the business process. The students
need nudging rather than leading, but everything is new to begin
with, whether it is opening a bank account or manufacturing and marketing
a product. The process is challenging
but a lot of fun.
The Business Mentors are expected to give an hour
a week from the middle of September into November and then it is
often easy to help by telephone or email with the occasional attendance
at the Company board meetings.
If you or your company are interested in volunteering,
or maybe acting as one of our judges for the Competitions, then please
contact Miles Mount leapinformation@yahoo.co.uk or
telephone Miles on 07802 307054.
